About Aeriqo
Built by runners, for runners. We believe everyone deserves to know the air they breathe.
Our Mission
Aeriqo exists to help outdoor enthusiasts make informed decisions about when and where to exercise. Air quality significantly impacts athletic performance and long-term health, yet most people have no easy way to check conditions before heading out.
We built Aeriqo because we needed it ourselves. As runners, we wanted a simple way to know: "Is it safe to run today?" Not just the AQI number, but a clear recommendation tailored to exercise.
Why Air Quality Matters
During exercise, you breathe deeper and faster, inhaling 10-20 times more air than at rest. This means you also inhale more pollutants. Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) can penetrate deep into your lungs and even enter your bloodstream.
Short-term exposure during exercise can cause:
- Reduced lung function and breathing difficulties
- Decreased athletic performance
- Aggravation of asthma and allergies
- Cardiovascular stress
Long-term repeated exposure compounds these effects. That's why checking air quality before outdoor activities is an important health habit.
Our Approach
Transparent Data
We use official government data sources where available and established providers for global coverage. We always show you where the data comes from.
Activity-Focused
Unlike generic air quality apps, Aeriqo is built for athletes. Our recommendations account for the increased air intake during exercise.
Privacy-First
We don't sell your data or show ads. Location data is only used to fetch air quality information. We use Supabase for secure authentication.
Honest Limitations
We're clear about what we can and cannot do. Air quality varies locally, and our data represents regional conditions. We're not a substitute for medical advice.
